Transwestern’s 2019 wellness campaign

Heartwarming Results

Transwestern’s 2019 wellness campaign helped many team members make potentially life-changing improvements over the past 12 weeks. Of the 257 participants that recorded two or more blood pressure readings during our “Take Your Wellness to Heart” monitoring campaign, 180 or 70{486b2a1f74edcc5180758f2b50c14395cd5abf419f5fc0bc049abfed8e823f44} achieved healthier readings over time.

More importantly, of participants whose initial readings showed uncontrolled blood pressure (greater than 130/80), 51 were able to bring those readings into the controlled range by the campaign’s end. Mission accomplished!

In the process, we briefly raised blood-pressure readings for a few lucky recipients of cash awards: Andi Lopez, Jennifer Villareal and Hayleigh Rowland each won $750 cash in our Up the Ante giveaway in June. Ben Barrera and Angela Lara each won $250 Visa gift cards for tracking their blood pressure readings in April and May.

Watch and Learn quiz winners included Terry Reese with a $50 SpaFinder gift card for the June video and quiz about heart implications of mental health; Margaret Siebers, who won a $50 Nike gift card by participating in our May Watch and Learn video focused on exercise and heart health; and Nica Alfonso, who picked up a Ninja Bullet Blender for watching the April video on healthy eating.

Thank you to our Wellness Ambassadors, who set up fabulous blood pressure stations in TW offices, and to the hundreds of team members who took the time to register on the American Heart Association (AHA) page and track their readings.

Although our 2019 wellness campaign has ended, we encourage you to continue to check and monitor your blood pressure regularly. The AHA estimates that more than half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure. Yet in the span of only three months, many of our team members have proven that monitoring blood pressure and adjusting daily choices accordingly can make a meaningful difference in our health.
