One-time workplace training sessions aren’t nearly enough to improve workplace diversity, equity and inclusion. Airing out equity issues in a single “town hall” or hiring a lone diversity professional is not going to magically create lasting change. In the spirit of continuing to set the bar for what it means to be a stellar workplace and to continue to attract exceptional talent, we need to address our own biases, open up a transparent dialogue, and commit to a concerted effort together.
After 18 months of researching, planning and coordinating educational resources, the DEI Training Committee last fall rolled out the monthly series Engage, Reflect, Discuss. And what a milestone for our organization! National calls around a specific topic give our team members an opportunity to connect through meaningful conversation.
To date, discussions have focused on these topics:
Inclusion Starts with I
Unconscious Bias & You
Valuing Differences for Mutual Success
This strong commitment to education and connection continues in February:

While no conversation is perfect, it’s the awkwardness, discomfort and honesty that will help build understanding and trust over time We thank the Training team of Colleen Dolan, Crystal Jones, Yesenia Marili, Diane McKinney, Jim Montez, Nami Richardson and Nihar Shah for their support in facilitating this ongoing effort.
