Every individual at Transwestern contributes to our shared purpose: Empowering good people to do extraordinary things together. Transwestern’s DEI initiative echoes this purpose through four overarching goals: Awareness, Talent, Training and Belonging. Each has its own defined strategies and objectives, but all are intertwined. The goal of awareness spans both internal and external audiences and is achieved in a variety of ways.
It begins with hiring and nurturing diverse talent. We support professional growth and ensure every team member has access to career opportunities across the company through a refined approach to recruiting. Individuals are encouraged to build out a personal career profile – outlining skills such as languages, unique coursework, professional affiliations and certifications – as well as view and apply for open positions within the company by visiting the Career worklet in Workday. This opens the door to new opportunities, as well as helps the company with initiatives such as succession planning and training development. All open positions are posted, and hiring managers are encouraged to consider internal candidates before looking for talent outside the firm.
It continues with creating a sense of community. Understanding where you fit in, and how your work is both informed by, and has an impact on, others, fosters personal and professional growth. Team Talk, a webinar series that showcases a different Transwestern group each month, kicked off in June with Transwestern Development Company to further this objective. Guests of Team Talk are invited to share information about themselves and their business focus, how they work with other groups across the firm, and challenges they’ve encountered and overcome during their careers.
